'TONGUES' deals with an entirely new challenge for Des Bishop, where he took the ultimate step towards Irishness by moving to the Gaeltacht to learn the mother tongue. Des explores the lighter side of life learning to speak Irish in Connemara, something which has strong memories for many Irish people. Describing his attempts to grasp the language, Des brings his new found passion for Gaeilge to life with unparalleled energy. The second half of the show sees Des explore the religious side of his identity, from his early days as St. Kevin Church's youngest altar boy with a tendency to be overly theatrical, to his experiences with people who have the power to speak in tongues. What follows promises to be a blistering night of stand-up comedy, where Des explores his Irish identity - his language and religion - challenging those that speak in tongues while struggling to learn his own! Des will perform "Tongues" Live at Vicar Street for a special one off show in aid of Barnardos on September 3rd The show will be recorded on the night for his brand new DVD which will be released later in the year. All proceeds from this show will go to Barnardos.
