Located in a beautiful river gorge, on the border between China’s south-western Yunnan province and Burma, is a Lisu village. The livestock of this small farming community – an ethnic minority in China – is threatened by an increasing number of Asiatic Black Bears. As the relationship between the farmers and bears becomes more fraught, a romance develops between the village elder’s grandson, Di Alu, and Ji Na, who has been promised to another family. On the day of her arranged wedding, Ji Na disappears…. Director Liu Jie won a 2011 Golden Koala Award, in Sydney, for this heartfelt film.
