Ireland’s first Family CycleFest at Millstreet Country Park will be held on the 24th and 25th of August, encouraging families to make the best of the remainder of the summer holidays with their families in what is fast becoming, one of Ireland’s top natural landscape, activity and heritage hotspots. The Park is embracing all things bi-ped this August offering workshops and training on a range of topics such as bicycle repair and maintenance, gearing up and safety, with bicycles of every description on show throughout the Festival.

The new bicycle trails launched at the 500-acre park have been meticulously planned and perfected following collaboration with experienced course designers and  experts from similar cycling venues, allowing pedal pushers of all ages and abilities to view the Parks most scenic aspects and enjoy their chosen route, leisurely or otherwise. The trails (5kms and 10kms in length) range from relaxed, off-road low land trails suitable for all, to more rugged and challenging terrain, all of which experienced cyclists will enjoy.

Already a hit with several cycling clubs from around Ireland, thrill seeking cyclists have the opportunity to tackle some of the invigorating hill climbs, whilst taking in the magnificent backdrop of the Boggeragh Mountains, admiring breath-taking views of the barony of Duhallow and the Kerry Mountains in the distance. The trails, through the flora and fauna of the Park, will encourage cyclists to stop and observe the herd of almost 250 red deer grazing contentedly in paddocks, and the many archaeological sites scattered throughout the Park.
