Cork World Book Fest is a unique celebration of books and reading over four days in April. The 2014 Fest will be the 10th edition and will feature a street fair on the Grand Parade, book stalls, food stalls, music and more.
Featured writers over the past decade include John Banville, Amiri Baraka, Claire Keegan, Gina Moxley, Bernard O'Donoghue, Carol Ann Duffy, Derek Mahon, John Banville, Colm Toibin, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, Pawel Huelle, Drago Jancar, Tracy K. Smith, and many more.
Cork World Book Fest 2014 will be a vibrant celebration of the book in all its aspects, combining readings by world class writers in innovative settings with a cultural street fair. It is an inclusive and participative event, attracting audiences who would not normally attend literary events, and enabling them to experience readings by leading international and Irish writers.
In 2014 the festival will again reach out to continental European writers - Alannah Hopkin will be guest curator with a special focus on Spanish-language writers; and the event will continue its association with Best European Fiction for a third year. It will also feature a Latin American strand focused on Roberto Bolaño; and Anakana Schofield will lead an Irish diaspora session.
