The Clonakilty International Guitar Festival sponsored by Guinness, is a celebration of one of the worlds most versatile and influential musical instruments and pays tribute to all who strum those hallowed six strings. In true keeping with the festivals title, virtuosos and innovative guitarists from five continents have slung their six strings over their shoulders and made the pilgrimage to the seaside town of Clon to wash the schools, streets, halls and pubs with every pick, every strum and every tone of music that any acolyte of this glorious instrument could wish for!
From all-over the world acclaimed traditional players, virtuoso classical trailblazers, experimental electro fiends, Vintage Roots folkers, Skronked out stoner blues Bad asses, Contemporary orchestral ukers, And explosive power rock insurgents will assemble in Clonakilty this September under one banner..the Guitar..come on feel the noise!
Again as in years gone past the guitar festival will host a quality of line-up of international artists that sets it apart from many other events throughout the country with even more free family friendly music throughout the town using every venue and space at their imaginations disposal from the Local Butcher-shop to the Parish Hall, along with Guitar Workshops, Exhibitions, Seminars and massive Jam sessions, so be sure to bring your guitars!
