To celebrate the centenary of Tennessee Williams’ birth, the Gate Theatre is delighted to present Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, the 1955 Pulitzer Prize winning classic.

A wealthy Southern family gathers to celebrate Big Daddy’s 65th birthday. Brick the alcoholic
son, married to the beautiful Maggie ‘the Cat’ hasn’t slept with his wife since his friend Skipper
died, leaving Maggie sexually frustrated and childless, unlike Brick’s brother Gooper and his wife’s
generous brood of children. As the evening unfolds, tensions mount and a shockwave of truths are
revealed.

This new production is directed by Mark Brokaw and designed by Francis O’Connor, with lighting
by Mark McCullough. Owen Roe plays the patriarch, Big Daddy, Richard Flood is Brick and Fiona
O’Shaughnessy is Maggie ‘the Cat’. The cast also includes: Donna Dent, John Kavanagh, Barry
McGovern, Marion O’Dwyer, David O’Meara.
