Bizet’s Carmen is a passionate and tempestuous love story that features some of the world’s best-known opera arias. This new Opera de Paris production was first staged in December 2012 and stars the celebrated Anna Caterina Antonacci in the title role. Conducted by Philippe Jordan and directed by Yves Beaunesne, the vibrant 1970s staging is an evocative backdrop to the unravelling relationship between the wild-spirited gypsy girl and duty-bound soldier.
