What would you do if you found you had absolute power, and realised at the same time you could never have what you really wanted? Originally written in French in 1938, Camus' Caligula is set in ancient Rome as the empire starts to decay, strangled in the grip of its most notorious emperor. This new version of the political thriller by David Greig is a darkly poetic, savagely funny exploration of the meanings of power, life and love. Nominated for Best Production and Best Costume Design at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards, Conor Hanratty's production returns following a sell-out run as part of Rough Magic's AIB SEEDS 3 Showcase during the 2007 Dublin Fringe Festival. Returning to our fair city as part of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival, Caligula runs at the Project Cube from September 30th to October 4th. Tickets are priced from €18 to €25.
