The Dublin area's premier jazz weekend returns on the upcoming May Bank Holiday, when Bray Jazz Festival returns for its 10th year. Featuring top name artists from both sides of the Atlantic, together with acts from Africa, South America and the Far East, this year's Bray Jazz Festival headliners include Grammy Award nominated vibraphonist Stefon Harris & Blackout (USA), Emerging Scandanavian trumpet star Mathias Eick (Norway), and the leading Euro guitar three-piece Trio Sud, featuring Basque guitarist Sylvain Luc. Elsewhere, Bray Jazz Festivals features music from the US based guitarist Rez Abbasi Quartet, Afro blues courtesy of long time Tinariwen collaborator Justin Adams and Juldeh Camera (Gambia), Sardinian guitarist Paulo Angeli, pianist Eri Yamamoto, Boi Akih from Holland and Indonesia, and featuring Northern Brazilian forro, courtesy of Orquestra do Fuba, and UK based alto sax player and rapper Soweto Kinch. Contemporary Irish jazz is well represented once more in Bray this year, with appearances slated for Balkan combo Yurodny, for Morla, Tommy Halferty's French Trio, Hugh Buckley's Sketches of Now, drummer David Lyttle, and a trio featuring saxophonist Michael Buckley with Ronan Guilfoyle and Indo-Dutch drummer Chander Sardjoe, amongst others.
