Improv Asylum, one of Boston's beloved improv and comedy theatre is coming to Dublin. In conjunction with the Tivoli Theatre, Improv Asylum Dublin will launch on the 1st April 2014.
Improv Asylum opened in 1998 in Boston performing over 6,000 shows, for over 2 million people and have also featured HBO. Speaking about the new venture, Improv Asylum co-founder Chet Harding said, 'It just seems like a great opportunity. Dublin reminds us quite a bit of where Boston was when we opened our doors almost sixteen years ago, There are a lot of really funny, good improv comedians in Dublin, but there is not one dedicated place to see this kind of comedy

Co-founder Norm Laviolette added, 'There are so many cultural connections between Ireland and Boston. It really does feel familiar when you are over there. Obviously the
language, but the attitude, dark humor, pubs, and so on make it that much more appealing to open our first show outside of the USA in Ireland'.
Shows will run from Thursday to Saturday during the venues residence in the Tivoli Theatre with a possibility of more shows to be added. And if you fancy yourself as the next Tommy Tiernan, Improv Asylum will also be running a training programme where budding comedians can learn the tricks of the trade.

Wayne Whelan, Director of the Tivoli Theatre said about the upcoming residence, 'We are incredibly excited to be working with such an outstanding and professional company from the US. Bringing Improv Asylum to the Tivoli allows us to become the center of improv comedy in Ireland. Improv is already a blossoming art form here. To be able to partner with one of the best improv theaters in the world is wonderful.'
