entertainment.ie is proud to present a special screening of Blade Runner: The Final Cut at Sugar Club, Leeson St. on April 8th. Personally remastered by Sir Ridley Scott, using the latest in 4K resolution and 5.1 mixing, Blade Runner: The Final Cut is considered to be the definitive version of the sci-fi masterpiece.
The genre-defining film has gone on to influence such directors as Michael Mann, David Fincher, Duncan Jones and its iconic soundtrack by Vangelis is now considered to be one of the best scores ever completed.
Set in a dystopian Los Angeles in the year 2019, Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, a semi-retired detective. Known as a Blade Runner, he hunts replicants - human-looking robots who are programmed with a four-year lifespan that are now illegal on Earth. When a band of replicants (Rutger Hauer, Daryl Hannah, Brion James, Joanna Cassidy) escape and head for Earth, Deckard must track them across a neon-lit cityscape and take them out.
Joining us on the night will be Michael Pope, lead singer of Irish synthpop outfit Le Galaxie, to chat about the film's influence and impact through the years.
