To be held over the May Bank Holiday 2013, the inaugural Ballymaloe Literary Festival of Food and Wine will take place in Ballymaloe House, The Grain Store and Ballymaloe Cookery School.
Ballymaloe House was founded in 1963 and since then it has grown to become a world renowned, family run restaurant and guesthouse. Since Myrtle Allen's recipes were first published in the Irish Farmer's Journal in the 1960's and with the subsequent publishing of her iconic Ballymaloe Cookery Book, a constant stream of award winning cookery books have emerged from Ballymaloe through the generations.
Now is the time for the Ballymaloe literary tradition to bring a wider international audience together for the first international literary food festival. The festival will feature an array of interesting talks, lectures, discussions and debates all on the topic of food literature.
East Cork will come alive with a diverse range of culinary treats such as cookery demonstrations, book readings, food trails, workshops, book launches, talks, literary lunches and dinners.
A joint collaboration between Ballymaloe House, The Grain Store and The Cookery School, Ballymaloe, aims to bring the best of the food world to East Cork to showcase tops chefs and writers from all over the world.
