The biggest ever promotion of physical bookshops in the UK and Ireland is about to be celebrated, and you’ve waited this long to hear about it? For shame people, for.. shame.

The campaign, Books Are My Bag, aims to highlight the role of high street and independent bookshops by selling the limited edition BAMB bag. Last year the promotion created hundreds of thousands of walking adverts for bookshops, through consumers sporting the BAMB bag, with over 100 celebrities photographed with the canvas bag.

This year, the BAMB bag has been designed by British artist Tracey Emin, known for controversial works such as "My Bed", and it will be available in bookshops from October 9th.

But instead of telling you how cool this year’s bag is, why not show you.

Running between October 9th-11th, the three day event will begin on Super Thursday, one of the busiest days in the publishing calendar and will culminate in Big Bookshop Parties on the Saturday.

Having already won the support of Cecelia Ahern, Sir Bob Geldof, Lily Cole, Dr Stephen Hawkins and Nigel Slater, the campaign has been a huge success and continues to grow. So if you’re walking by a bookshop in October, pick yourself up a BAMB bag, and maybe a book, seeing as that’s what it’s all about.

Actually, forget October, but a book whenever, any time you like, before it’s too late!!!...damn e-readers.
