The Abbey Theatre is excited to present the theatre's first ever production of Oscar Wilde's timeless play AN IDEAL HUSBAND. The sharp-witted tale of AN IDEAL HUSBAND centres around Sir Robert Chiltern, a rising politician, hotly tipped for high office.  However, as a successful public figure Chiltern has more than an impeccable reputation, a private income and a loyal wife - he also has a dirty, little secret. Wilde drew from his own painfully personal experiences to create a disconcertingly recognisable picture of a High Society as vicious as it is witty, as moralising as it is vacuous and as overdressed as it is corrupt. Featuring a 21-strong cast including Derbhle Crotty, Susannah De Wrixon and Mark O'Halloran, the production opens for a six week summer run on Thursday 14th August, ending on September 27th. Tickets are priced between €15 and €30 available from ticketmaster and usual outlets.
