An Féile Bheag Filíochta - The Little Poetry Festival is a much loved annual festival of writers, raconteurs and singers concentrating on poetry, with top Irish poets conducting workshops in Irish and bilingually. Enjoy many poetry readings, with two major open microphone events at which all are welcome to read; and the annual festival lecture together with book launches. While the gathering is conducted through Irish, speakers of all languages and poems in all languages are very welcome.

The event which is mainly concentrated in the tiny village of Ballyferriter, begins on Friday evening with a lecture at the Museum before moving to the nearby atmospheric Tigh an Tobair (The House of the Well) for a session of song, storytelling and music. Saturday has day long poetry workshops in the Museum, while around lunch time people gather at the nearby pottery workshop and café of poet-artist-craftsman Louis Mulcahy to prepare for a guided tour to some of the local historic locations such as Dún an Óir. After that, comes the highlight of the festival - the evening open mic session at Tigh an Tobair. On Sunday morning participants transfer to nearby Dingle town for a reading in the beautiful little chapel of An Díseart under Harry Clarke windows.
