Summer holidays are here, so we've put together a list of activities that will keep the kids occupied, and the whole family entertained, while school is out.

Laya City Spectacular
The Laya City Spectacular brings some of the world's best street performers to Ireland for free shows and workshops. Acts at this year's festival include The Lizard Man, contortionists Alakazam and Lisa Lottie, circus act Chipolatas, and acrobatic group Leap. In addition, there will be food stalls on site, live science demonstrations and kids' entertainment zones.
It takes place in Merrion Square, Dublin on July 8th -10th, and again the following weekend in Fitzgerald Park, Cork.

Spraoi
There's more street performers on display at Waterford's Spraoi International Street Arts Festival. They've put together a programme of street theatre and music which will keep the whole family entertainment, but the festival highlight is the Sunday evening parade which will snake through the city. The theme for this year's parade is Waterford: The Musical, so expect a big theatrical display. Garter Lane Arts Centre also hosts the SprÓg festival in the week leading up to Spraoi, allowing younger children to get involved in the fun.
Spraoi takes place in Waterford City from July 29th to 31st.

Bray Air Display
Before overseas holidays became a thing, Bray was the place to go for a summer getaway. The Bray Air display is the perfect excuse to bring your kids out for the day, to enjoy the beach, a 99, and spectacular aerial displays from the Red Arrow, the Breitling Wingwalkers and more. On the ground you'll find the food village and seafront fun fair.
The Bray Air Display is on July 23rd and 24th, with aerial performances beginning at 12 noon each day.

The Festival of Curiosity
Beginning in 2013, Dublin's Festival of Curiosity celebrates arts, science and technology and encourages festival goers to explore and discover new ideas. The 2016 festival programme will be announced next week, but once again will offer a mix of day time events for children and families, and evening events of an adult audience. Expect urban gardens, carnivals, interactive exhibitions and art instillations, and more.
The Festival of Curiosity takes place between July 21th and 24th.

Galway International Arts Festival
The Galway Arts Festival is one of Ireland's biggest cultural events. There is plenty to do for adults, but they also make sure to provide entertainment for children and families. Sarruga are one of Europe's best outdoor theatre companies, and they're coming to Galway with Insects - a parade of giant mechanical structures that will creep through the streets.
These parades will run on July 10th and 11th.

Song of the Sea Exhibition
Song of the Sea was one of the biggest children's films of 2015, and this exhibition will allow kids to go behind the scenes and discover the original drawings, prints and animations. If you have a child who is interest in film, this is a perfect way to encourage their passion and allow them to learn what goes into making a film. There will be meet the animators workshops taking place throughout the run of the exhibition, for anyone who wants to learn more about drawing and the animation process.
This exhibition opens in The Ark on July 11th, and continues until August 31st.

Kilkenny Arts Festival
The long running Kilkenny Arts Festival has an extensive programme of family events, which will entertain and educate the kids. There are Shakespeare and mask-making workshops to introduce children to the world of theatre, animations workshops with the Oscar winning Cartoon Saloon, and arts and crafts workshops presented by the National Craft Gallery.
