'Lady Bird' director Greta Gerwig has lined up her next film - an adaptation of 'Little Women' which will star Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet.

Really, when you read that back, you may as well just keep an Oscar aside for it because you just know it's going to be in there. Variety's reporting that Gerwig was originally brought in to help rewrite a draft of a script, but Sony pushed the pre-production forward in order to get Gerwig to sign on.

The novel, written by Louisa May Alcott, concerns a group of sisters in post-Civil War America and has been adapted for the screen several times, the most notable being the 1994 version with Winona Ryder, Gabriel Byrne, Claire Danes and Christian Bale.

The specific roles haven't been worked out of as yet for Gerwig's adaptation, but it's understood that with such a high-profile cast lining up to take part, production is likely to begin quickly once contracts are signed.

No release date has been set as of yet.
