With Spectre headed for an October release, we should be hearing some word on who's singing the Bond theme for it any day now.
There's been rife speculation and rumour surrounding it, but this list of bookies' favourites is as solid an indicator as we've seen in quite some time.
Not only that, it follows pretty closely with our own suggestions - not to brag or anything.
So, here's the singer(s) and the odds on:
- Sam Smith (2/5)
The bookie's favourite, our favourite and just about everybody's favourite. Yet, somehow, he says it's not true.
- Ed Sheeran (8/1)
That's better odds than we expected. For one, his voice just doesn't suit a Bond theme at all. Lord of the Rings / Hobbit, yes. But this? No.
- Ellie Goulding (10/1)
Sam Smith said in a recent interview that Goulding had the job. Now, that might just be misdirection on his part. It could even be a duet with someone else on this list, for all we know. At 10/1, that puts only two above...
- Adele (12/1)
We honestly thought she would have been second favourite to win. After all, Skyfall did win an Oscar and it's not unheard of for singers to be asked to do multiple Bond songs.
- Lana Del Rey (14/1)
Not a bad shout, in fairness. She's cropping up on every other soundtrack and that song she did for The Great Gatsby was pretty cool, so it's possible. Unlikely, we think, but possible.
- Lorde (16/1)
She's already heavily involved in the Mockingjay, Pt. II soundtrack, so we're thinking this is highly unlikely.
- Noel Gallagher (25/1)
Hey, we can dream. Right? Gallagher has said that he'd write a Bond theme in a heartbeat and Freaky Teeth sounds suspiciously like one. We're not even big fans of Oasis (Blur-heads here, mostly), but we'd love to see him give it a shot.
