Star of Star Wars: The Last Jedi Kelly Marie Tran has reportedly deleted all of her posts on Instagram after months of harassment from angry fans.
*SPOILERS FOR THE LAST JEDI FOLLOW*
The actress played Rose Trico in The Last Jedi. Her character was a mechanic who befriends and saves Finn (John Boyega), sacrificing herself in the process.
Tran was the first woman of colour to play a leading role in the franchise.
According to reports, she was subject to racist, sexist attacks from Star Wars fans since the movie release. The Rose Tico description on the Star Wars ‘Wookieepedia’ website was altered to feature offensive, racist language.
Star Wars Facts first reported that she deleted all posts from her Instagram account due to harassment.
I hope everyone is happy now. She’s such a beautiful person and has such a kind heart. She was so excited for this role and people ruined it for her. I’m so sorry she has to deal with this.

far too many replies in here start with "i didn't care for her character, BUT" which is SO ridiculously tone-deaf. no one asked for your opinion of her or her character or the movie just now. can you just say the "no harrassment" bit without your unsolicited opinions???

"victory!" exclaimed the 45 year old man who still lives in his parents basement, dressed in his cosplay of his own Sith creation, a character who is literally invincible to all bullets, lightsabers and whatever else a second grader makes up on the recess yard

this is sad. i hated the character but the actor has absolutely nothing to do with that. she seems like very sweet person.

Her insta was just lovely, filled with joy and excitement. Why do the sucky Star Wars fans always have to ruin it for the rest of us awesome ones? They get worse by the minute. @kellymarietran is a treasure.

In the past, Tran's co-star, Daisy Ridley also deleted her Instagram account because of harassment from fans.
The latest from the Star Wars franchise, Solo: A Star Wars Story, was released in cinemas two weeks ago.
