You might recall how a couple of weeks ago, Kristin Kreuk of Smallville had to publicly deny she was part of a sex cult called NXIVM (pronounced Nexium) due to a massive investigation by the FBI and a exposé by the New York Times.
During that time, reports suggested that fellow Smallville star Allison Mack, who played Chloe on the show, was only days away from being arrested and charged with trafficking charges over her involvement with said cult and her close relationship to its leader, Keith Raniere.
As it turns out, it took less than a month as Mack has now been arrested and charged for sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy and - if convicted - could face anywhere from 15 years to life imprisonment.
The complaint read out in court by Asst. US Attorney Moira Kim Penza alleged that Mack was a recruiter for Raniere and was directly below him in the cult's hierarchy. The complaint also describes a bizarre ritual involving branding upon entering the cult, as well as far more explicit incidents.
Mack has denied all charges and plead not guilty.
