In case you were wondering to yourself what Lana Lang from Smallville is up to, it's denying media reports she's involved with a cult whose leader was arrested in Mexico this week on charges of sex trafficking and had his house raided by the FBI.

Yeah.

The long story short of all of this is that, according to Kristen Kreuk who's best known for playing Lana Lang in Smallville, she took a course in Executive Success / NXIVM "intensive", which she understood to be a "self-help/personal growth course that helped me handle my previous shyness," and that she left the whole thing behind around five years ago.

Some accusations have been levelled against Lang that she was in the inner circle of NXIVM, and that she was involved in recruiting women to become sex slaves for Keith Raniere, the leader of the cult - however Kreuk denied these in a statement on Twitter yesterday.

The story doesn't end there. Fellow Smallville co-star Allison Mack has been one of the group's most well-known followers. FBI Asst. Director William Sweeney stated after the arrest of Raniere that the cult leader "displayed a disgusting abuse of power in his efforts to denigrate and manipulate women he considered his sex slaves," and that Raniere "allegedly participated in horrifying acts of branding and burning them, with the co-operation of other women operating within this unorthodox pyramid scheme."

Tom Welling, on the other hand, is starring a TV series called Lucifer where he plays a cop who turns out to be Cain, of Cain and Abel fame.

The lives of early '00s teenage dramas is a strange one.
