Ragnarök and RoboCop

This week in gaming...

Sony have finally given us the release date for God of War Ragnarok! The highly anticipated sequel is due out on the 9th of November this year, in lieu of Starfield. We got a short new trailer, showing again how much Atreus has grown, and giving us a look at Fenrir, the giant wolf. Whether he turns out to be friend or foe is still uncertain, given his role and lineage in Norse mythology. God of War Ragnarök will release on PS4 and PS5.

Also coming out in November, just one day before God of War Ragnarok, is Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game releasing on the 8th of November. It got a big gameplay showcase this week, and… Well, it looks only alright.

The game was originally announced back in 2017, but work on the game dates back as far as 2013, after Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag wowed audiences with its superb naval combat.

Skull and Bones has had several facelifts and is effectively now a different game than it was in those 2017 trailers. It is an online, live service MMO style game, similar to Ubisoft’s The Division.

The new trailer left fans wanting more, with many stating that the ship combat doesn’t seem to live up to Black Flag, which released almost 10 years ago. Hopefully Ubisoft surprise us all with another enjoyable pirate adventure.

Although we got confirmation that God of War is coming later in the year, we also got the news that Forspoken has been delayed until January 2023. The announcement seems to hint that its not due to the game needing more time, as it’s in its final polishing phase, but could be part of a financial strategy instead, perhaps due to the already packed end of year game releases.

RoboCop: Rogue City got a brand new gameplay trailer, showing off the first person shooter that puts you right in the cyborg boots of RoboCop himself.

The trailer shows off the iconic retro future from the original 80s films, and even has Peter Weller reprising his role of the original RoboCop. This. Looks. Deadly.
