The Irish national broadcaster has clinched the rights to one of the most highly-anticipated TV series of the year.
In a very surprising turn of events, 'The Handmaid's Tale' season four will air on RTÉ ahead of Channel 4 in the UK. And we couldn't be more excited.
The Elisabeth Moss-led dystopian thriller series returns to screens after a tumultuous year of delays. However, it's nearly time to see what unfolds for June in the upcoming season, which will air on RTÉ 2 in a couple of weeks time.
'The Handmaid's Tale' season four will air over in the States on April 28. The series has previously premiered on Channel 4, but an official air date return has not yet been set for the UK channel. The first three seasons are available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription.
In the upcoming series, June (Elisabeth Moss) strikes back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.
RTÉ's Director of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Dermot Horan said: "We're so pleased to be able to bring this new run in a highly-acclaimed and thrilling series to our viewers on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player as a 'see it first' this May, ahead of UK broadcast."
Viewers can tune into season four of 'The Handmaid's Tale' on RTÉ when it premieres on Thursday, May 6 at 10.30pm on RTÉ 2 and the RTÉ Player.
