Heroic efforts from the continuity announcer
As usual of a Sunday night, a good chunk of those watching the box were tuned into 'Dancing with the Stars' on RTÉ (or watching Netflix's Fyre Festival documentary if Twitter is anything to go by).
However, the broadcaster experienced an unusual cut out during broadcasting right after former 'Fair City' star Johnny Ward performed, leaving viewers at home perplexed. Hats off to the continuity announcer though who kept us entertained with a rundown of shows coming up this week (bless that RTÉ Guide) before it went to ads.
Eventually we returned to the 'Dancing with the Stars' studio where Nicky Byrne picked things up where we left off, apologising for the drop in transmission. Alls well that ends well but not before the show blew up on Twitter.

Flashback to a time when the TV signal would regularly go...and you’d be left with the test card or an apology on screen. Or a cartoon. Used to happen all the time. I’d forgotten all about that. #DWTSirl

My guess is that the woman shouting in the audience charged at Brian #dwts

I don’t know who was on @RTEOne continuity but they deserve a hug, that’s coming from the man who once filled for over an hour on @RTE2fm due to floodlight failure and resorted to asking @cantwelll what the @IrishRugby dressing room smelled like. Remember that @alancaw #DWTSIrl

Spare a thought for the girl working in continuity in @RTEOne right now - my nerves would be shot! #DWTSIrl

An explanation from the folks at RTÉ...
@DWTSIRL went off-air tonight due to a technical difficulty. Voting was unaffected. All dances were performed. We thank viewers for their patience #DWTSIrl
