The two-night launch will kick off next Sunday.
'Peaky Blinders' is returning for a fifth season, with confirmation coming from BBC today that two episodes will air in quick succession.
The opening episode of Season 5, 'Black Tuesday', will air on Sunday, August 25th at 9PM on BBC One, while the second episode, 'Black Cats', will air on Monday, August 26th, at 9.30 PM, again on BBC One.
'Black Tuesday' will see the Shelbys brought back together as the impact of the Wall Street Crash begins to take a toll on their family business. The title of the episode comes from Tuesday, October 29th, 1929 when the five-day collapse of the stock market ended. Following on from Black Tuesday, a 12-year Great Depression occurred and effected all Western industrialised countries, and was only brought to an end by the mobilisation of industries in World War II.
Season 5 of 'Peaky Blinders' will launch on the same night as 'Poldark' ends its final season, again playing out across the two nights. Those two episodes will air an hour before 'Peaky Blinders', so you won't have to miss out on Aidan Turner or Cillian Murphy for the two nights.
Seeing as how the fifth season seems to be taking on the Wall Street Crash, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the sixth season will see the Shelbys going to America. However, in a round-table interview with Digital Spy, showrunner Steven Knight confirmed that the sixth season won't see the Shelbys battling Al Capone either.
"I really don't want to go down that road because it's just so familiar. I will go West in the next series but not in that way," Knight explained.
