The 'SNL' character got a movie spin-off in 2010, but a TV show based on 'MacGruber' is now underway.
'MacGruber', released back in 2010, was a modern-day cult classic along the lines of 'Super Troopers' and 'Caddyshack'.
There was nothing in it that could tell you it was particularly smart or funny, but damn if it wasn't hilarious in the process. Originally an 'SNL' creation by Will Forte, rumours of a TV series have been circulating since the movie's release and on last night's 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', the rumours were confirmed.
Forte announced that he, Jorma Taccone and John Solomon have pitched a 'MacGruber' TV series "to a couple of places," and that they're already working on material - which, naturally, led into a sketch with Jimmy Fallon bumbling his way through a scene from the potential TV series.
Here's the clip.
Don't let this distract you for a second - 'MacGruber' is absolutely hilarious and you should watch it right now if you haven't already. Better yet, just watch this clip from the movie below to have an understanding of how messed up and funny it is.
Be warned, though, it's quite NSFW.
