It's a no from the creator
Any thoughts of a 'Fleabag' season three return have been severely dashed, unfortunately.
The critically-acclaimed TV series will not be returning for a third season, as creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has stated that the character has been "exhausted" in the first two seasons.
In a recent interview with The Mirror, Waller-Bridge has come to the conclusion that the series reached a natural ending. She said: "I think we have to let her go, she’s exhausted. She’s been through a lot. But we’re all going to work together again, so there will be something of the 'Fleabag' spirit to come back."
The comedy actor and writer previously voiced wanting to return to the character at some point in the future, joking "I have a fantasy of bringing 'Fleabag' back when I’m 50."
Alas, it looks like we've seen the last of the character in its current form.
However, there will be a mini 'Fleabag' reunion of sorts to come later this year. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was recently added to the line-up of 'His Dark Materials' season two, joining up once again with her 'Fleabag' co-star Andrew Scott.
The Irish actor revealed at ComicCon@Home last week that his onscreen character Colonel John Parry's digitally-made daemon will be voiced by the 'Fleabag' creator. The fantasy series, which stars Daphne Keen), Lin Manuel-Miranda and Ruth Wilson, is expected to arrive on the BBC this Autumn.
