"[She] will forever be in our hearts"
It emerged on Saturday (15 February) that Caroline Flack, the former host of 'Love Island', had died at the age of 40. She was found dead in her east London apartment. She had been due to appear in court having been charged with assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.
Tributes have been pouring in for Caroline Flack since, including a particularly emotional radio broadcast from her friend and colleague Laura Whitmore.
'Love Island' did not air on Sunday night (16 February) out of respect for Flack's family.
It was the second consecutive night on which the reality dating series did not air as Saturday's highlights show was also cancelled following the news of her passing hours before.
Tonight, the series returns and will include a special tribute to Caroline Flack.
A statement from ITV read: “Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news.
“After careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the 'Love Island' production team and given how close we still are to the news of Caroline’s tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight’s 'Love Island' out of respect for Caroline’s family.
“'Love Island' will return tomorrow night which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts.”
