'Masters of the Air' follows the bomber pilots of World War II.
'Band of Brothers' and 'The Pacific' were some of the most viscerally-directed depictions of World War II on television.
From the massive production details to the human stories they told, 'Band of Brothers' and 'The Pacific' were peak television, and now a new series is officially underway. The new series, 'Masters of the Air', will follow the US Air Force's actions during World War II.
It's early days yet, and no casting has been announced, however Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are returning as executive producers on the new series being made for Apple+. The series takes its name from the source history book, 'Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany' by Donald L. Miller, and will draw heavily from it for material.
As well as this, Apple+ has put a $200 million price-tag on 'Masters of the Air' for a single miniseries, meaning it's going to look just as good - if not better - than 'Band of Brothers' or 'The Pacific'.
Just to remind you how good 'Band of Brothers', here's the D-Day jump. This was made in 2001 and it looks just as good then as it does now.
