Armando Iannucci is taking Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad into space.
After so successfully skewering politics with the likes of 'Veep', 'The Thick Of It' and 'The Death of Stalin', the only place left for creator Armando Iannucci to go was space.
And sure enough, that's exactly where 'Avenue 5', his latest comedy series, is set. Taking place on a luxury cruiser floating through space that's suffering from technical faults, the crew have to try and save it from collapsing while managing customer expectations.
Looking at the cast, it's pretty stacked with comedic talent. As well as Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad, you've got Zach Woods from 'Silicon Valley' and 'The US Office', Rebecca Front from 'The Thick Of It', 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' alum Suzy Nakamura, and they've even got Ethan Phillips - who played Neelix on 'Star Trek: Voyager' - in there as well as an alcoholic astronaut.
'Avenue 5' arrives on HBO in the US on January 19th and will appear on Sky Atlantic shortly thereafter.
