Emily Mortimer is directing
There is an all-star cast lined up for BBC's latest period drama series.
Andrew Scott, Lily James, Dominic West, and Emily Beecham have all been cast in 'The Pursuit of Love' for the BBC. The period drama is an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s celebrated novel from 1945.
Emily Mortimer, who has had starring roles in 'Mary Poppins Returns' and 'Notting Hill' in the past, will star in the TV mini-series, as well as taking the helm as the director and leading the writing team. The series will be set in Europe between WWI and WWII, and will follow the lives of two young women in Linda Radlett (James) and her best friend and cousin Fanny Logan (Beecham) as they search for their perfect husbands, promising to question the topics of love, sex, and the intricacies of the human heart.
The BBC tweeted the exciting news this afternoon, as filming gets underway.

The remaining cast of the comedy-drama will be Dolly Wells (who worked closely with Mortimer on 'Dolly & Em'), Assaad Bouab (Netflix's 'Messiah'), Shazad Latif ('Star Trek: Discovery'), Freddie Fox (who will play Mark Thatcher in the upcoming fourth series of 'The Crown'), and Beattie Edmondson ("Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie').
'The Pursuit of Love' will be made up of three one-hour episodes, and will launch on BBC next year.
A previously made BBC TV series, 'Love in a Cold Climate' was brought to screens in 2001, with Rosamund Pike and Elisabeth Dermot Walsh as the leads. The two-parter was an amalgamation of Nancy Mitford's novels 'The Pursuit of Love' and 'Love in a Cold Climate'.
Irish actor Andrew Scott, who will be gearing up for his Emmy nomination this weekend, will be playing the character of Lord Merlin, who has been described as a wealthy and eccentric neighbour. Scott's steady rise in stardom has been on the up in recent years (a lot of it due to 'Fleabag' of course), and the next time we'll be seeing him on our screens will be the second series of BBC's 'His Dark Materials' as John Parry.
Here's the teaser trailer for the series, which will see him team up with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Season two returns this November.
