We hope you enjoyed the summer, because the weather looks set to take a turn for the worse.
Well, to all those people out there who have been complaining that it's too hot, we hope you're happy now, because it looks like a fierce belt of rain is headed our way this evening, signalling that the summer is only a memory now, as we storm our way into August.
The folks at MET Éireann have issued an Orange Alert, in particular for Leinster, with rainfall of around 40-70mm expected over the 24 hour period of late Saturday night through to Sunday evening, but also added earlier today that heavy spells of rain will affect other parts of the country too.
....Spells of heavy rain to affect S Muns & Lein later this eve with a risk of localised flooding. Max 16-19C. Light NW or variable breezes.

That could hit those travelling to Indeipendence, however you might avoid the worst of it given that they added the east of the country will be hit hardest. Still, it's only an aul bit of rain sure, and you shouldn't be put off. In case you need it, we've even got a handy guide to what you need to know to get to/from/in/out/through and about the festival.
