Are you ready, kids?!
When it comes to ridiculous ways of playing music on things, the internet has a lot to answer for.
The trend for some time was playing music on floppy disks, with entire orchestras being made out of them to play all manner of music. From there, it went to making music out of the dial-up noise from old internet routers. That sparked an entire genre we know now as dubstep.
For this, however, it's oddly specific and relates solely to the music in question. YouTuber HotAcid has devised an ingenious way to play the theme tune from 'Spongebob Squarepants' on actual sponges. That's right, folks - it's Spongebob on Spongebob.
The method used involved two Arduinos - which are a kind of microcontroller - as touch sensors, which then feed into a MIDI keyboard to produce the notes needed to play 'Spongebob Squarepants' in its entirety. In fact, it's not the only time he's used this method to produce music on weird household items.
A cursory glance through his YouTube channel reveals that he managed to play a traditional Italian song on pizzas and the theme from 'Game of Thrones' on knives and coins.
We live in a strange time with wondrous advances in technology beyond our reasoning and comprehension. This is one of them. Enjoy.
