Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul led us a merry dance with their social media posts

Well, this was just plain cruel.

'Breaking Bad' fans all over the world got very excited last month, when its stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul appeared to tease a collaboration in recent weeks, posting the same image to their social media accounts with the word 'Soon'.

They later posted a picture of themselves walking through a stream, titled 'Even sooner' and when neither actor denied the growing rumours that a sequel - or perhaps a prequel - to the series was imminent, it ramped up the possibility significantly.

However, now the meaning behind the teasers have been revealed, and while it is a collaboration, it's got nothing to do with 'Breaking Bad'. Or, indeed, any film or TV show.

Instead, Cranston and Paul are releasing their own brand of Mexican spirit Mezcal called Dos Hombres ('Two Guys'), which they revealed yesterday in an Instagram post.

Cranston revealed that the idea for the alcohol brand came to them as they sat in a New York sushi bar after 'Breaking Bad' had ended. "Knowing that we couldn’t share the screen for quite a while - our thoughts turned to a new project," he wrote. "We sipped cocktails and thought about what it should be. The younger one looked at his drink and said, you know what we should do? We should do a really special Mezcal."

Given the fact that Aaron Paul is a known lover of whiskey, many assumed that any alcohol-based spirit might have seen him go down that line - but at least Mezcal, the traditionally Mexican spirit made from the agave family of plants, keeps with the 'Breaking Bad' theme.

A bottle, meanwhile, will set you back $58 (€52) - although it's not shipping to Ireland just yet.
