That's got to smart a bit coming from Magic FM's Dr Fox. Especially since he was once a judge on the original Pop Idol…

I might be getting, like, well old being over 29 and therefore irrelevant to BBC Radio 1 listeners, but I did enjoy Mr. Fox's twitter rant, which went a little something like this.

"Brainless @grimmers @R1Breakfast claims @robbiewilliams is too old & irrelevant for today's teenagers! Some advice... Stop being a total nob… Scary how many people seem to agree with my thought re@grimmers being a #totalnob over his @robbiewilliams comments! It's true though… While I'm having a rant, much as like @onedirection for what they are, if they're the new saviours of @bbcr1 can I have my license fee back? Of course I'm not the voice of Today's youth-or trying to be-but @grimmers comments are purely to get a headline."

Whereas you just had to call essentially the biggest radio broadcaster in the UK a #totalnob on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Robbie's had a chance to respond to his newly administered "not relevant" tag: "The government's given them a remit to appeal to 17- to 24-year-olds, obviously I don't fit in to that and that's okay. They've got a job to do and a business to look after and they've always been incredibly supportive of me and for that I thank them very, very much. If they never play a record of mine again, I thank them for the support they have given me and, if they do, then bless them too… Nothing's personal, it's not a vendetta against Robbie Williams but they better not play Coldplay or Madonna or I'll break their legs."
