Yet another achievement for Sally Rooney.
Each year former US President Barack Obama shares a list of his favourite books over the past year. Now that he doesn't have the weight of managing a country on his shoulders, he clearly has a lot more time for reading.
There's a wide variety of books on the list but one that stands out is the critically acclaimed novel 'Normal People' by Irish author Sally Rooney. It's the second novel from the 28-year-old author and its huge popularity has led it to be adapted into a TV series which will air on the BBC and Hulu next year.
'Normal People' won the Irish Novel of the Year at the Irish Book Awards in 2018 and was also longlisted for that year's Man Booker Prize.
Other books that feature on Obama's list include, 'Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland' by Patrick Radden Keefe, 'The Age of Surveillance Capitalism' by Shoshana Zuboff and 'Girl, Woman, Other' by Bernardine Evaristo.
