The One Direction man says he did drugs in the recording studio during sessions for his new album
The former One Direction members have all kept their noses reasonably clean during their hiatus - at least publicly.
Now, however, the rock 'n' roller of the band, Harry Styles, has revealed that he has indulged in psychedelic drugs.
In his cover story with Rolling Stone (the one that sent the internet into a meltdown when images were revealed of it last week), Harry Styles admits that he was once so stoned on magic mushrooms that he bit off the tip of his tongue.
Showing the journalist around Rick Rubin's Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California - where he recorded most of his forthcoming second album - he said "Ah, yes. Did a lot of mushrooms in here."
He continued: "We’d do mushrooms, lie down on the grass, and listen to Paul McCartney’s Ram in the sunshine. We’d just turn the speakers into the yard... This is where I was standing when we were doing mushrooms and I bit off the tip of my tongue. So I was trying to sing with all this blood gushing out of my mouth. So many fond memories, this place.”
In news that will surely devastate 1D fans clinging on to their supposed 'hiatus', he also said that he 'didn't know' whether he would ever go back to the boyband.
"I don’t think I’d ever say I’d never do it again, because I don’t feel that way. If there’s a time when we all really want to do it, that’s the only time for us to do it, because I don’t think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we’re all like, ‘Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again'," he said. "But until that time, I feel like I’m really enjoying making music and experimenting. I enjoy making music this way too much to see myself doing a full switch, to go back and do that again. Because I also think if we went back to doing things the same way, it wouldn’t be the same, anyway.”
In recent times, Styles was being touted as a potential young Elvis in Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming biopic - but with this revelation, we could see him as more of a Jim Morrison...
