Bono and The Edge will also appear at the festival
South County Dublin has long provided a home for some of Ireland's biggest celebs, but the area has clearly garnered a reputation as a celeb hangout in recent years.
Following Matt Damon's stint in Dalkey while filming 'The Last Duel' during the pandemic and Harry Styles being spotted swimming in Killiney last year, the word is clearly spreading amongst Hollywood royalty as now Tom Hanks is set to visit the south Dublin seaside village of Dalkey for a public engagement next month.
Hanks will speak at the prestigious Dalkey Book Festival, which runs from June 15th - 18th and has the tagline 'Global Names; Local Vibe', about his debut novel 'The Making of Another Motion Picture Masterpiece'.
The 66-year-old Hanks has been praised for his writing in the past, and the book is described as "A wildly ambitious story of the making of a colossal, star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film, and the humble comic book that inspired it all."
He'll be interviewed by Northern Irish TV presenter and journalist Andrea Catherwood at Dalkey Church on June 16th.
Other big names on the programme include Bono - who lives in nearby Killiney - who will discuss his memoir 'Surrender' with journalist Fintan O'Toole on Sunday 18th, The Edge in discussion with celebrity scientist Brian Cox, Dylan Moran, Roddy Doyle, John Banville and more.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning (Wednesday 3rd) at 10am from www.dalkeybookfestival.org.
