"A peace in my soul because I was finally taking care of myself."
The ex-Holywood actress has given her verdict on what it was like living under the spotlight all those years.
In case you had forgotten, Cameron Diaz quitting Hollywood was an announcement she made back in 2018. It's a pity then that the famed Hollywood star's final appearance on the big screen was 2014's 'Annie' remake, which wasn't very well received.
The actress, famed for her roles in 'Charlie's Angels', 'The Holiday', 'There's Something About Mary', and of course all four 'Shrek' movies and their spin-offs, opened up to her friend Gwyneth Paltrow on her latest podcast episode of 'In Goop Health: The Sessions'.
When asked by the host what it felt like for her to walk away from such a long-standing Hollywood career, the 47-year-old actress said: "Like peace. A peace in my soul because I was finally taking care of myself.
"It’s a strange thing to say, I know a lot of people won’t understand it, I know you understand it, but it was so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there," Diaz continued. "There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there.
Before Cameron Diaz quitting Hollywood became a real decision in her life, she explained that she had become "sensitive to some energies" during her time in the movie industry.
"I stopped and really looked at my life," she said. "When you’re making a movie… they own you. You’re there for 12 hours a day for months on end you have no time for anything else."
And what's Diaz up to right now? She's enjoying having a family with her husband Benji Madden and daughter Raddix, and has just launched her new organic "clean" wine, called Avaline (which has some pretty good ratings online).
