St. Patrick's Day 2019 has come and gone
With St. Patricks Day 2019 all but a distant emerald-tinged memory, and everyone enjoying their Bank Holiday Monday, here are just some highlights of what was a great day to be Irish.
Fresh off the plane.
Dublin Airport - Taximan asks Americans: "Are you going to the parade?"
American woman: "They have a St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin?!?"— Overheard in Dublin (@OverheardDublin) March 17, 2019
The term "St. Patty's Day" needs to be erased from people's memories.
'The Simpsons' knows how it really is.
“Ladies and gentlemen, what you are seeing is a total disregard for the things St. Patrick's Day stand for. All this drinking, violence, destruction of property. Are these the things we think of when we think of the Irish?” #StPatricksDay pic.twitter.com/yWChHzE8vL

Every year we still can't get over how unappealing the Chicago river looks, and hope that our green overlords don't come lurching out of the water.
The Chicago River is so green. Amazing. #GlobalGreening #StPatricksDay2019 pic.twitter.com/nyAs8CYBrE

How every parade goes down.
Here's hoping that you weren't trying to get any sleep at 6am Sunday morning in Dingle.
The evocative sounds of the fife & drum echoing through the dark streets of Dingle - Ireland’s earliest St. Patrick’s Day parade 6am
Tradition dates to the Land War of 1880s when marching was banned between sunrise and sunset, so the people of Dingle came out before daybreak. pic.twitter.com/kLpjOL2wGk

With it all over for another year, let's not forget what the "true meaning" of St. Patrick's Day is.
Let’s not forget the true meaning of St Patrick’s Day. Giving tourists wrong directions to the parade.
