The 'Deadwood' and 'Santa Clarita Diet' star is going to a galaxy far, far away.

It seems like every other day is a casting announcement for 'The Mandalorian', but this one is particularly exciting.

Timothy Olyphant, who people will know from Netflix's 'Santa Clarita Diet', the excellent-and-underrated 'Deadwood', and the equally excellent-and-underrated 'Justified', is joining the second season, per a report by THR. As you'd expect, further details are kept under wraps and there's little information on what the second season will be about - or what role Olyphant's character will play in it.

So far this week alone, Katee Sackhoff from 'Battlestar Galactica' was announced as reprising a role she played in the animated series, 'The Clone Wars'. Early last week, Temeura Morrison was confirmed to be joining the cast as Boba Fett, but it's since been speculated that he may be playing Commander Rex, a character from the same animated series.

Olyphant, however, absolutely feels like a solid choice for 'The Mandalorian'. For one, he's got tons of experience playing gunslinger-types from 'Deadwood' and 'Justified' - and the show is essentially a Western set in the 'Star Wars' universe. Not only that, Olyphant's one of those actors that makes even relatively weak shows better simply by turning up in it.

As of now, Disney have not confirmed when 'The Mandalorian' will land on Disney+ for its second season but word is you'll see it some time around October of this year, as production had been completed on the show before lockdown measures were enacted in the US.
