It's set to be an anthology
Don't worry, Netflix aren't planning on torturing the Crain family anymore, but there is a second season of 'The Haunting of Hill House' on the way... sort of.
Netflix have today confirmed that a new installment has been commissioned but the next season will focus on a different story with new characters. They aren't giving much away either simply saying the new season will be called 'The Haunting of *** *****'.
Best part? The series creator Mike Flanagan is on board and in fact Netflix has entered into a multi-year overall television deal with him and executive producer Trevor Macy. A smart move if ever there was one.
Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, said: "Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away. We're excited to continue our partnership with them on ‘The Haunting’ series and future projects to come."
The first season of 'The Haunting of Hill House' proved a hit for the streaming service (we even made it our number one TV show for 2018). It was based on the famous Shirley Jackson novel of the same name with the cast including Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti.

Flanagan and Tracy are currently in post-production for 'Doctor Sleep', the feature adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 follow-up to his seminal novel The Shining, starring Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson. It's set to be released on November 8th while 'The Haunting' is still some time away, arriving on Netflix in 2020.
