The series debuts June 8

Disney has introduced us to Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American teenager from New Jersey with some fresh new super powers.

'Ms. Marvel' follows Khan, played by Iman Vellani, who is a mega-fan of Captain Marvel. In the trailer, we see Khan as a day-dreaming, doodling 16-year old.

When she finds a mystical cuff which imbues her with superhero abilities, she has to try and balance her superpowers with the everyday perils of being a teenager.

The show is a landmark for Disney and Marvel, as it features their first Muslim superhero seen on-screen. 'Ms. Marvel' first appeared in 2014 in the comics.

The show was announced to be in the works way back in 2018. There was apparently an extensive search for who would play Khan. Newcomer Vellani was finally chosen last year.

The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.

Directors include Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Bisha K. Ali serves as executive producers.

Ms. Marvel will also feature in the upcoming film 'The Marvels', which stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, her superhero inspiration.
