She-Hulk has met her match
According to sources, the actor will join the MCU series in a "major" role.
While she won't be suiting up as She-Hulk, Jameela Jamil will be joining the cast of the Disney+ series in an as-yet-undisclosed role - but there are rumours as to who she will be playing.
Jamil will reportedly play Titania - a Marvel supervillain. The arch-nemesis of She-Hulk, the character has incredible strength, speed, durability and stamina. It seems She-Hulk maybe have to grapple with her new powers while taking on one of her biggest foes.
Earlier this year, Tatiana Maslany was cast as lawyer Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner, who inherits his Hulk powers. In the comics, Jennifer is left critically wounded after an attack, and the only way to save her is a blood transfusion from her cousin. After obtaining her powers however, unlike her cousin, She-Hulk is able to retain her personality while "Hulked-out" - like Bruce Banner in 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Given that this is a 'She-Hulk' series, Mark Ruffalo will play a pivotal role in the storyline. Tim Roth, who played Abomination in 2008’s 'The Incredible Hulk', will also be returning. The series is believed to be an action/comedy - another different take for a Disney+ series.
Jamil began her career as a presenter on Channel 4's 'T4' entertainment show until 2012, before moving to BBC Radio 1, and then making her way to Hollywood. She played the role of Tahani in Netflix's 'The Good Place' for four seasons, and also appears as a judge on the reality competition series 'Legendary'.
Kat Coiro ('It's Always Sunny', 'Modern Family') will direct and executive produce the Marvel series, with Jessica Gao ('Rick and Morty') as head writer and executive producer.
No release date has been set for 'She-Hulk', but the series will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
