Okay, this has us very excited
The former 'Game of Thrones' star is swapping Westeros for somewhere deep in space for her newest on-screen role. And nope, it's not 'Star Wars' either.
Emilia Clarke is said to be joining the ranks of Marvel's superheroes in the Disney+ series 'Secret Invasion'.
Clarke, who stole our hearts (and our fury) by portraying Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' for eight seasons, will play an as-yet-unknown character in the Marvel production.
The actor joins an impressive lineup for the action series. Just yesterday it was announced that Olivia Colman would be suiting up for the series, which already stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
Not much is known about 'Secret Invasion', which will be headed up by Jackson's Nick Fury in the central role. He, alongside Mendelsohn's Talos will be teaming up together against the Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for many years undetected.
Ben-Adir is expected to be playing the main villain, but we reckon Colman or Clarke could easily also be involved on the dark side of the Marvel series too. We've seen enough British actors play villains in our time to know that it could be possible.
Emilia Clarke's previous tentpole franchise was her role in the 'Solo: A Star Wars Story', where she played the role of Qi'ra, Han Solo's love interest. Apart from those two mega fanbases, Clarke has also starred in the 'Terminator' series in 'Terminator Genisys' where she played a revamped Sarah Connor.
Next up for the actor, she'll be voicing a character for Sky Cinema animation film, 'The Amazing Maurice'. Hugh Laurie, Hugh Bonneville, David Thewlis, Hamish Patel and Gemma Arterton will lend their voices to the movie alongside Clarke.
