There's talk of an Oscar-winning actor joining the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Olivia Colman is in discussions with Marvel to join Samuel L. Jackson's upcoming 'Secret Invasion' series on Disney+.

Expected to premiere at some point in 2022 on the streamer, 'Secret Invasion' will pick up with Jackson's Nick Fury following the aftermath of 'Captain Marvel'. The shape-shifting Skrulls are said to feature heavily in the series, with Ben Mendelsohn once again reprising his role as Talos who was first introduced in the 90s-set movie, and who then made another brief appearance in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'.

The Hollywood Reporter suggests that Olivia Colman is also set to join the MCU, with the Oscar-winning actor in talks with Marvel Studios for an unnamed role in the superhero series. Could she be playing a villain? We could see that happening.

Kingsley Ben-Adir from Amazon Studios' releases 'Soulmates' and 'One Night in Miami...' also has a role in the series. According to THR, he will be playing a Marvel villain.

'Secret Invasion' is still quite a while away from its release, with filming expected to get underway later this year. The series will premiere on Disney+, and is included on the long list of titles which make up Marvel's Phase Four.

Still to come this year in terms of other MCU TV series, we have 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' finale this Friday, 'Loki' in June, followed by animated series 'What If...?', the introduction of 'Ms. Marvel', and finally 'Hawkeye' at the end of 2021.

For movie fans hoping to get to see their next MCU fix on cinema screens, 'Black Widow' will be premiering on Disney+ with Premier Access in July (and in theatres, potentially); 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' in September; 'Eternals' in November; before finally 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' in December.
