Anthony Bridgerton has met his match, perhaps
'Bridgerton' season 2 officially has its male and female lead.
As previously reported, 'Bridgerton' season 2 will follow the eldest of the Bridgerton family, Anthony (Jonathon Bailey), as he tries to find a suitable marriage.
In season one, he was having an affair with opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett).
However, she broke off the relationship, knowing Anthony would never be able to marry her.
Now it seems the character will have a new love interest in Kate Sharma.
Deadline reports: "Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools - Anthony Bridgerton very much included."
Simone Ashley, best-known for playing Olivia in 'Sex Education', has been cast in the role.
'Bridgerton' season 2 is based on the second title of Julia Quinn's book series, 'The Viscount Who Loved Me'.
Bailey and Ashley will succeed Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, who became global stars as Simon and Daphne in season one, as the leads of the romantic drama.
Creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen said the happily married couple may return yet.
He said: "We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing."
Regarding Anthony, Van Dusen notes: "We left him at the end of the first season at a bit of a crossroads, so I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he fares on the marriage market."
'Bridgerton' season 2 got the greenlight in January after the first season got a viewership of 82 million households.
No release date for it yet though.
