All the newest releases coming out this weekend
There's a lot of choices out there for this Bank holiday weekend if you've got a subscription to any of these on-demand services.
Here is our list of the best picks for the Bank Holiday weekend ahead - with most of them releasing this Friday, October 23.
'Over the Moon' - Netflix (Friday)
Kicking off your weekend in musical style is Netflix's latest animated feature. And it's so cute. 'Over the Moon' is the type of escapism we need right now more than ever. Not just for children, the feature film impresses with gorgeous visuals, magical twists and turns, and a brilliant cast to boot. Cathy Ang, Ruthie Ann Miles, John Cho, and Sandra Oh all star. Read our glowing review here.
'Borat 2' - Amazon Prime (Friday)
From one children's movie to a movie that should definitely be avoided by children at all costs - it's the return of Borat in 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'. Hilariously inappropriate, all the while remaining ever-relevant and heavily political, fans of the original must tune into the second instalment when it arrives on Amazon Prime this Friday.
'On the Rocks' - Apple TV+ (Friday)
For those with an Apple subscription, there's a charming new TV series on its way to you this Friday, starring Bill Murray and Rashida Jones. Laura (Jones) thinks she’s happily hitched, but when her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) starts logging late hours at the office with a new co-worker, Laura begins to overthink everything. Turning to her charming, impulsive father Felix (Murray), the pair investigate the situation.
'The Lighthouse' - Sky Cinema & NOW TV (Sunday)
In case you missed it in cinemas last year, the incredibly uncomfortable Robert Pattinson and Willem Defoe thriller will be hitting Sky Cinema and NOW TV this weekend. How will these two lighthouse keepers stay sane on a remote island off the coast? Not very well it seems...
'The Witches' - On Demand retailers (Monday)
Anticipation was high for 'The Witches' reworking to say the least. Starring Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, and the voice of Chris Rock - is this reboot of the Roald Dahl classic worth the watch? Well, to put it mildly, at least the children will enjoy it. Maybe you should try to dig out the original Anjelica Huston wonder for a really scary watch.
'Calm with Horses' - Netflix (Monday)
Releasing on this Bank Holiday weekend is one of the best Irish movies to be produced on the island in the past year. Starring Barry Keoghan, Niamh Algar and Cosmo Jarvis the thriller will make for perfect Monday evening viewing. You can read our review of the movie right here - and we also caught up with Keoghan and Alger, which you can watch here.
'The Undoing' - Sky Atlantic (Monday)
Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant are back on our screens for a gripping HBO tale. The six-part series, which is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz, entitled 'You Should Have Known', sees Kidman play a successful wife, whose husband goes mysteriously missing at the same time there's been a gruesome murder. Coincidence? You'll have to tune in to Sky Atlantic at 9pm on Monday to find out.
