There's loads on the way
As we wind down the year that was, it's time to begin looking ahead at some of the great content heading our way in the new year.
Amazon Prime Video has teased all of their biggest releases to come in 2022, including 'The Lord Of The Rings' series, season four of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel', 'The Boys' season three, plus many, many more besides.
Here are a lot of the big titles heading our way on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.
'The Tender Bar' | January 7
Starring Ben Affleck, Lily Rabe, Tye Sheridan and Christopher Lloyd, 'The Tender Bar' is about a neighborhood pub in Manhasset, Long Island which becomes a second home for a fatherless boy. A poignant and inspiring coming-of-age story directed by George Clooney, JR's father disappeared
from his life before he was old enough to speak, and he moves into his grandfather’s dilapidated house after he and his mother once again hit hard times.
'Hotel Transylvania: Transformania' | January 14
Drac (Adam Sandler), Mavis (Selena Gomez) and the Pack are back, like you’ve never seen them before. Reunite with your favourite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s (Jim Gaffigan) mysterious invention, the “Monsterification Ray,” goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny (Andy Samberg) becomes a monster.
'A Hero' | January 21
From two-time Academy Award-winning director Asghar Farhadi, 'A Hero' follows Rahim, (Amir Jadidi) who is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor (Mohsen Tanabandeh) to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don't go as planned.
'As You See It' | January 21
'As We See It' follows Jack (Rick Glassman), Harrison (Albert Rutecki), and Violet (Sue Ann Pien), twentysomething roommates on the autism spectrum, as they strive to get and keep jobs, make friends, fall in love, and navigate a world that eludes them. The series also stars Sosie Bacon as their aide Mandy, Chris Pang as Violet’s brother Van, and Joe Mantegna as Jack’s father Lou.
'Book Of Love' | February 4
This Valentine’s Day, uptight English writer Henry discovers that his dull, failing novel has become a smashing success in Mexico, where Spanish translator Maria has rewritten it into a spicy erotic read. Opposites attract as the two travel through Mexico on a book tour in Book of Love.
'Reacher' | February 4
'Reacher' follows Jack Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson), a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime.
'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' Season Four | February 18
It's 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft-and the places it takes her-creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her. One of our favourite series at the moment, 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' season four will see the return of Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle and Tony Shalhoub. Joining the cast for the new season will be Kelly Bishop, Milo Ventimiglia and John Waters.
'Star Trek: Picard' | Early 2022
Launching in early 2022, 'Star Trek: Picard' features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', and follows the character into the next chapter of his life.
'Rooney' | Early 2022
The film will give viewers unprecedented access to one of football’s greatest strikers, as Wayne Rooney recounts stories from some of the most important moments of his life, with testimonies from the people closest to him, including family, friends, and his wife, Coleen.
'All or Nothing: Arsenal' | Early 2022
'All or Nothing: Arsenal' will take viewers behind the curtain during a crucial season at one of the world’s biggest football clubs, as Arsenal focus their efforts on challenging for domestic success and returning to elite European competition.
'The Lord Of The Rings' | September 2
Our return to Middle-Earth is imminent. Amazon Studios' forthcoming series brings the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history to screens for the very first time. This fresh interpretation is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings', and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Taking the crown as the biggest series from Amazon Prime Video in 2022? Most definitely.
'The Boys' Season Three | 2022
'The Boys' are nearly back, and their return is expected to be one of the biggest releases on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. Developed by showrunner Eric Kripke, the series is probably the most fun and irreverent superhero series out there. With season three returning in the new year, expect plenty more shocking moments from the cast of Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Anthony Starr and plenty, plenty more. This season, there's a new group of Supes in town, called Payback, which will give The Seven a run for their Vought money.
'Backstage With Katherine Ryan' | 2022
This unique comedy series will offer a rare glimpse behind the curtain of Katherine Ryan’s brand-new live comedy show, offering an exclusive look at what goes on behind-the-scenes, whilst also showcasing world-class stand-up from the "UK’s funniest comedians". Hosted by Katherine Ryan, each episode will feature some of the most exciting names in British comedy.
'Totems' | 2022
Set in 1965 in the midst of the Cold War, 'Totems' follows a French scientist, Francis Mareuil (Niels Schneider), as he begins working as a spy. While working for the French Secret Service and the CIA, Mareuil meets Lyudmila Goloubeva (Vera Kolesnikova), a pianist forced to work for the KGB. The eight-episode series will star Niels Schneider, Vera Kolesnikova, José Garcia, Lambert Wilson, and Ana Girardot.
'The Bad Guy' | 2022
'The Bad Guy' mixes crime with dark comedy, and revolves around the incredible story of Nino Scotellaro, a Sicilian public prosecutor who devoted his entire life to fighting against the Mafia and is suddenly accused of being one of the very men he has always fought against: a Mafioso. After being condemned, and with nothing left to lose, Nino decides to pull off a Machiavellian revenge plan, becoming the “bad guy” he has been unjustly turned into.
'A Private Affair' | 2022
Jean Reno and Aura Garrido star in the fast-paced and fun period drama that portrays a woman's struggle to follow her dreams despite the societal stereotypes of the time. Set in the late 1940s, when several prostitutes are murdered by a serial killer in Vigo, Marina Quiroga, an adventurous
upper-class woman sets out to catch the killer with the help of her faithful butler, Hector.
'The Devil's Hour' | 2022
Starring Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi, 'The Devil’s Hour' follows the story of Lucy, who is awoken every night at exactly 3:33 a.m. -the devil’s hour -by terrifying visions. When Lucy's name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in the area, the answers that have evaded her all these years will finally come into focus.
'Lovestruck High' | 2022
'Lovestruck High' is an eight-part immersive reality dating show which is
produced by Studio Lambert. Across the series, viewers will see a cast of unlucky-in-love Brits try to find “the one” by going back to high school for a second time. The participants won’t just be going back to school, but entering the nostalgic, picture-perfect world of the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s American high school movies to complete a search for love.
'Mammals' | 2022

'The Kids In The Hall' | 2022
