The trailer dropped yesterday and had quite the reaction
Irish comedian Aisling Bea's film and TV career has been going up and up of late. Her latest Hollywood effort, a reboot of 'Home Alone', has been getting quite a lot of attention since the trailer dropped yesterday, and not necessarily the good kind...
Aisling Bea isn't the only big name in 'Home Sweet Home Alone'.
She stars opposite Archie Yates of 'Jojo Rabbit' fame as well as Ellie Kemper ('Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt', 'The Office'), Rob Delaney ('Deadpool 2', 'Catastrophe') and Kenan Thompson ('SNL') in the movie.
Aisling Bea plays the mother of 10-year-old Max, who is accidentally left home alone for Christmas when his family goes on holiday to Tokyo.
There was uproar about how unnecessary what is essentially a remake of 'Home Alone' is.
Bea's English accent in the trailer, when her Irish one is so beloved, also got a lot of chatter.
"Aisling Bea" is now trending on Irish Twitter.
Here are some of the reactions to her accent, and to the trailer generally.
Aisling Bea, mind you, had a brilliant response to the whole debacle.
She took to Twitter to calmly explain: "To everyone online who has been wondering why I have an English accent in the new 'Home Alone' movie, it's because the character's English.
"She's from England, and if she was from England and she spoke with an Irish accent, then that would be quite strange. But she's English."
Aisling Bea then reeled off her best Australian, Texan and Scottish accents.
'Home Sweet Home Alone' will debut on Disney+ on November 12.
